Ben Affleck's sober coach accompanied him to the Oscars

Last night, Ben Affleck opened up about his secret battle with alcohol addiction, admitting that he had completed treatment in a poignant Facebook post.

Now it has been claimed that Ben’s sober coach accompanied him to the Oscars back in February, making sure that he stayed on the straight and narrow.

Entertainment Tonight have claimed that after completing a stint in rehab for his alcoholism, Ben was worried about giving in to temptation at the glitzy do, so invited a special recovery professional to keep an eye on him.

The 44-year-old actor admitted that he was desperate to overcome his addiction for the sake of his family, with Ben dad to 11-year-old Violet, eight-year-old Seraphina and five-year-old Samuel, who he had with his estranged wife, Jennifer Garner.

Speaking about Ben’s treatment, a source dished: “He has completed his treatment and is feeling good. [He] did this for himself and his family.

“Family always comes first. Ben has struggled with alcohol for years and it’s a struggle that millions of people have to battle every day.

“He has nothing to hide and wants his kids to know that he did everything he could to be a better father. That’s why he announced it himself.”

Writing in his Facebook post, Ben explained: “I have completed treatment for alcohol addiction; something I’ve dealt with in the past and will continue to confront. I want to live life to the fullest and be the best father I can be.

“I want my kids to know there is no shame in getting help when you need it, and to be a source of strength for anyone out there who needs help but is afraid to take the first step.”

Ben also thanked Jennifer for her huge support during his treatment, with the revelation coming just one week after sources claimed that Ben and Jennifer were giving their marriage another go, however, this is yet to be confirmed.
