Ben Haenow AXED By Simon Cowell Just Months After Releasing Debut Album

Our (second hand) heart is breaking for Ben Haenow as he has reportedly been axed from Simon Cowell’s record label ‘Syco’ shortly after releasing his debut album.

The 31-year-old stormed to victory on ITV’s ‘The X Factor’ in 2014 and followed up with the release of his self-titled album this past November, which debuted at a solid ‘number 10′ in the UK Albums Chart.

Unfortunately, it appears that this is where his chart success came to an end since his latest single ‘Slamming Doors’ didn’t chart at all, causing Simon Cowell to make the decision ‘with a heavy heart’ to drop Ben from his roster of artists.

The former Croydon van driver has become the quickest winner to be axed by the music mogul since the show’s first winner Steve Brookstein. Ouch.

In an open letter to his fans, he explained:

“Sorry I’ve been a bit quiet on here recently, been a crazy few weeks! So I wanted to let you all know directly from me, that after what has been the most incredible experience working on my debut album, myself and Syco entertainment have decided to part ways.

“Working with The X Factor and Syco has been the most amazing time of my life and has given me the best possible platform for the start of my career. I have the utmost respect for them both and cannot thank them enough for all the help and everything they have done for me this past year.”

He remained positive about the change, adding that he was “excited about this next chapter” and is “in talks about the next album.”

A source told The Sun that Simon is supportive of the singer’s career, reportedly having said: “Simon made the decision with a heavy heart. He was a big supporter of Ben but it’s simply down to business - Fleur East, who came second, has done much better.

“And at the end of the day our winners, especially the blokes, never have the same success as the likes of One Direction and Olly Murs.”

As one (slamming) door closes, another one opens… We wish Ben every success going forward!
