Derren Litten, The creator of ITV’s Benidorm, has said that the show is definitely over.

After plenty of speculation, Litten finally confirmed that the show has seen its last series.

‘Yes folks it’s true, after months of speculation, I can finally confirm Benidorm series 10 was the LAST EVER TV SERIES of @BenidormTVshow – but the story continues,’ he tweeted. ‘Come see us on tour and see what happens next!’

The news won’t come as a surprise to some, after ITV offered a particularly cryptic response to claims series 10 was its final one.

Litten then came out and said that the show was indeed ending with: ‘Crazy to think Wednesday will be the last episode of Benidorm! I created the series over 11 years ago, wrote it, guest starred in it and ended up directing it. It’s difficult to think what else there is to do! Thank you for watching! #MuchasGracias,’ he said, which strongly implied the programme was no more.

He then tweeted: ‘Don’t make me f*cking laugh,’ in a post that threw doubt on whether ITV were in fact renewing the comedy for an 11th series.

Litten branded newspaper claims as dubious but it appears the rumours were right after all.

The show had previously received acclaim when it was awarded Most Popular Comedy Programme at the 2008 and 2011 National Television Awards, as it proved a popular hit with ITV1 viewers.

Yahoo Celeb previously contacted Derrin for comment about the show’s continuation, to which his publicist responded with, ‘there is no further comment…………………..’ which, in hindsight, told us all we needed to know about its future.
