Sherrie Hewson has hinted that Benidorm will be returning as a film.

Benidorm creator Derren Litten confirmed in April that the ITV show was ending with its 10th series.

However, Hewson, who plays hotel boss Joyce Temple-Savage, reckons fans will be treated to a big-screen version.

She told Daily Star Sunday: "There may just be a film coming."

Hewson continued: "That's a bit of an inside scoop! It will be happening, it'll just be a bit different. But it will still be fabulous. I can't wait."

Hewson's comments come after Benidorm got the axe at ITV, with Litten confirming the news on Twitter back in April.

He wrote: "Crazy to think Wednesday will be the last episode of Benidorm!

"I created the series over 11 years ago, wrote it, guest starred in it and ended up directing it. It's difficult to think what else there is to do! Thank you for watching! #MuchasGracias."

Litten had previously dismissed cancellation reports from the tabloids back in February, tweeting: "Don't make me f**king laugh (I enjoyed that story after series 6. And 7 and 8 and 9...)."

At that time, ITV confirmed that a decision hadn't been taken over the future of the series.

Meanwhile, Litten is in the process of creating a stage show of the hit comedy series, and he's moving from ITV to BBC One for his new comedy Scarborough, starring Jason Manford, Katherine Kelly and Stephanie Cole.
