Bernie Sanders Announces Intention to Stay in Presidential Race and Attend Sunday's Debate

US Senator Bernie Sanders said he would continue his campaign for the Democratic presidential nomination on Wednesday, March 11, one day after suffering primary losses to former Vice President Joseph Biden in four states.

Sanders held a news conference in Burlington, Vermont, where he announced he planned to attend a scheduled televised debate with Biden on Sunday.

“Last night, obviously, was not a good night for our campaign from a delegate point of view,’’ Sanders said, but added that he believed he was winning "the generational debate” and wanted the opportunity to debate Biden.

Sanders listed a number of progressive issues including income inequality and health care, and addressed Biden directly, saying, “Joe, what are you going to do?”
