The year’s biggest shopping event is almost upon us.
We’re not talking about the end of summer clearances or even the January sales - the Black Friday weekend and Cyber Monday sales events eclipse them all.
What is Black Friday?
The shopping holiday began as a US phenomenon, taking place the day after Americans gather to celebrate Thanksgiving. It’s become incredibly popular here, thanks to the date’s proximity to Christmas.
In fact, many consider the Black Friday sales to be the firing gun to festive shopping, which makes sense - few would turn down a golden opportunity to stretch their Christmas budget even further.
What date is Black Friday and Cyber Monday?
This year Black Friday takes place on Nov 26, with Cyber Monday, a day to pick up electricals and tech, closing the sales four days later on Nov 29.
Big names are all signed up to the Black Friday sales bandwagon and one name we’re most excited about is Argos.
The high street favourite has cemented itself as a leading BF destination thanks to impressive discounts in years past.
What were the best deals from last year?
Anticipating the demand from shoppers who spent the best part of 2020 in lockdown, last year Argos went BIG on homeware sales, with discounts across practical items as well as the more frivolous. Brands on offer included Samsung, Dyson, Ninja and Shark so if your home electricals could do with an upgrade, you’re in luck.
Tech too, was treated to red hot markdowns with everything from BaByliss hair dryers and GoPro cameras to Amazon’s Echo smart assistants. Sales on gaming and children’s toys also did incredibly well.
In the busiest hour on Black Friday there were 21 products ordered every second, mostly from shoppers buying from their mobile devices.
What deals to expect this year?
While Argos hasn’t revealed it’s official BF game plan just yet, we can expect bigger and better deals than in the past, with the first discounts trickling through from the start of November.
In the meantime, satisfy your urge for a bargain by checking out Argos’ current sales.
