Best of Bowie Review: If you looked away, it was like the real thing
I WAS too young to enjoy David Bowie when he last played in Glasgow at the SECC in 2003 as part of his massive Reality tour.
So, I was hoping Tony Visconti's Best of Bowie would be the next best thing - and it was.
The band, who were made up of Bowie tribute act, Holy Holy and Jessica Lee Morgan joined Heaven 17 vocalist Glenn Gregory on stage at the O2 Academy last night.

They took fans on an epic journey through some of Bowie's best albums and top hits. They were faultless, with Gregory's vocals being the clear highlight of the show. When you looked away from him, it was almost like listening to David Bowie. He told fans: "I love playing this venue. It's such a beautiful venue."
From Aladdin Sane, Lady Grinning Soul is one of Bowie's most technically difficult songs to perform live but it was a definite high point of the night - especially with Janette Mason on the keys.

After that came a medley of Bowie's greatest hits including Ziggy Stardust, Changes, Ashes to Ashes and Heroes. The audience got on their feet for the encore - Rebel Rebel and Suffragette City.
Tony Visconti told stories about Bowie which created a sense of intimacy with the audience.
While the band were faultless in their performance, they were let down by the fact this was an all-seated gig and as such, the crowd was a bit lacklustre until the encore. In Glasgow, crowds make the gig and the band did not get the reaction they deserved.
