It goes without saying that the measures advised by the government to contain coronavirus must be taken seriously. Ideally, we should all be working from home, gyms, pubs and shops should be closed, and people should be limiting their exposure to the outside world.

But in the midst of the uncertain - and sometimes overwhelming - current climate, you can absolutely rely on the internet to find a bit of joy. Maybe it's the penguins experiencing their aquarium in full for the first time. Maybe it's the luxury gyms who now offer free at-home workouts. Or maybe it's the brilliant memes that offer a welcome distraction, or make you do a little 'ha!' during your day.

Here are our pick of the best coronavirus memes so far.

When the coronavirus alert system looks familiar

When you need a little reminder sometimes

When the office lingo had a glow up

When you find little joys

When you've settled into your new routine

When your bank account is at least vaguely protected

When you have a lot of hours a day to fill
