Best dog-friendly pub walking routes in Cornwall
1. Lizard, Kynance Cove / Church Cove Circular / The Top House Inn 88.6/100
The Farmers Arms nestled in the heart of The Lizard village takes the top spot in the rankings with a score of 88.6/100. This wonderful pub can be enjoyed as part of the Lizard, Kynance Cove and Church Cove Circular, which promises stunning views along the Lizard Peninsula.
The walk is 9.8km long and takes roughly two hours and 35 minutes to complete - or longer if you want to enjoy the scenery. Users on the app highlight that dogs are safe to be off lead for large portions of the walk, which helped it score highly. However, care should always be taken in sections that are steep and rocky.

In second place is The Blue Peter Inn in Polperro with a score of 80.9/100. The Talland Bay To Polperro Out-And-Back offers some stunning views. However, walkers should wrap up and stay safe on this more challenging route.
At around 4.8km, this walk should take an estimated one hour and 22 minutes to complete. Dogs may be let off lead, particularly at Talland Bay beach, but walkers should always respect good dog-walking etiquette, depending on weather and walking conditions.

In third place is the Treguth Inn in Newquay with a score of 75.7/100. This pastoral little pub can be enjoyed as part of the Porth Joke and Holywell Beach Circular, an easy route that hugs the cliffs, which is also known as Polly Joke.

Matt Salkeld, spokesperson for D-Robe said: “As the weather starts to turn colder, many of us find it difficult to stay active. But autumn is a great time to get out and explore, especially in a beautiful region like Cornwall.
“We wanted to pull this list together to help walkers of all abilities find some really amazing routes to explore. And a wonderfully warm pub after a long walk is a great incentive! The added bonus of knowing the locations are dog-friendly ensures that our furry friends won’t be left out in the cold, so they can enjoy the experience too.”
Using the outdoor recreation app AllTrails, the D-Robe team analysed all ‘circular’ and ‘there and back’ walks where a pub could also be found along the route. The walks were then scored based on overall ratings, total distance, and whether they are dog-friendly.
Additional points were awarded if users had highlighted that dogs could be let off lead. The team then analysed the pubs found on each respective route.
Using Trip Advisor data, they scored the pubs based on their rating score, the percentage of ‘excellent’ reviews. Using reviews and further research, the team also identified if the locations are dog-friendly and have a usable fire.
