Acting duo Jessie Buckley and Eddie Redmayne led the way with their chic looks before Cabaret, which they both star in, swept up seven awards including best actor and actress in a musical for the pair.
Buckley kept it sleek and subtle with a plain black twist MM6 Maison Margiela spaghetti strap top and skirt, which she paired with a pair of dramatic black opera gloves and De Beers diamonds. Playing it safe with all-black ensembles has been the go-to choice for many this awards season.
Redmayne looked dapper in a navy jacquard tuxedo jacket with white shirt and bow tie by Ralph Lauren’s exclusive Purple Label. He gave the classic dinner jacket a springtime twist by pairing it with cream trousers, and velvet loafers.
Stealing the show on arrival, however, was Emma Corrin. The actress, who rose to stardom in her role as Princess Diana in The Crown, went for a tongue-in-cheek look by Loewe, the brand designed by the London-based creative director Jonathan Anderson.
The figure hugging dress came sleeveless in a nude shade balloon print, and was dressed up with a flesh colour balloon bra which sat on top of the gown, and patent black boots with balloon heels. The design was first shown on the Parisian catwalks for Loewe’s AW22 collection in March, where the blow up motif took centre stage.
Elsewhere, Lily Allen who was nominated for her West End debut role in 2:22 A Ghost Story, kept things simple in a strapless black Givenchy frock with black floral appliqué. And Sheila Atim, who took home the best actress in a play award for her part in Constellations, was effortless in a pink silk satin Prada column dress, complete with coordinating jacket.
