Best park to visit as voted for by Derbyshire Live readers - but you might have to cross the border
We all know that Derbyshire is blessed with a plethora of beautiful country parks to visit from the Peak district to Markeaton Park, so after polling our readers - the results are finally in. After hundreds of submissions, the readers of Derbyshire Live have spoken and crowned Lyme Park as their favourite park.
Readers who took part in the poll chose Lyme Park in Cheshire as their favourite park, just a short drive away from the Derbyshire border. The Peak District park sits just outside of Stockport, and has been voted as one of the countries' favourite parks winning multiple awards.
The short-list for the parks were suggested by the readers and there was an obvious favourite, with Lyme Park taking the top spot with 2,219 votes.

The 1,400 acre grounds is also home to an ancient woodland as well as a play area, making it a perfect place for a family day out.
Lyme Park sits just outside of Stockport and the Peak District, and has also been named as one of the top 10 spots in the UK to watch the sunrise and sunset. The park has a large estate house managed by the National Trust and is surrounded by beautiful gardens as well as being a deer park.
The Lyme Park mansion is a grade I listed building originating from the latter part of the 16th century. The house was also used for a scene in the BBCs adaptation of Pride and Prejudice.
The poll also revealed that people who voted in the poll enjoyed visiting Ashbourne’s Ilam Park which is managed by the Trust’s White Peak Estate. The park is situated just five miles outside of Ashbourne and is a part of the White Peak area of the Peak District.
The other parks short-listed by readers in the poll included: Darley Park, Chellaston Park, Markeaton Park, Tapton Park, Belper River Gardens, Allestree Park and the Arboretum Park.
These parks stood out to our audience because of their popularity, the variety of activities that they offer and the love for the spaces shown by the local community.
