The best places to eat and drink in Worthing, by Masterchef winner Kenny Tutt
Former bank manager Kenny Tutt was crowned winner of the BBC’s MasterChef by judges John Torode and Gregg Wallace in 2018.
He credits his wife Lucy for her support (the couple have two young children, Emily, three, and Grace, 10 months), as he opens his debut restaurant Pitch this month in Worthing in West Sussex, where he has lived for more than 20 years.

“This fishmonger is particularly good for crab and smoked fish – I adore shellfish, so I often stop by to pick up some cockles along with the seasonal catch of the day – you name it, they get it.”

Fior di Latte
“I’ve been to Naples and Bologna, the big pizza hitters of Italy, and think Fior Di Latte serves some of the best Neapolitan pizza and gelato I’ve had, with thin sourdough crusts, creamy mozzarella and simple, classic toppings. They’re brave, because they’re right between a Pizza Express and an Ask Italian!”

“Right on the seafront – they do fresh dressed crab, cockle popcorn, fish stews, fish platters with smoked mackerel pâté. You can sit outside with a glass of wine.”

The Georgi Fin
“This ale house in Goring-by-Sea is a favourite for local craft beers on tap. It’s not afraid to showcase small, interesting breweries, like Staggeringly Good from Portsmouth and Sussex brewery UnBarred. I’m also a big fan of Harvey’s in Lewes.”

“A great café for breakfast and brunch that’s only been open for just over a year, serving good quality sausages, bacon, fantastic coffee and your usual smashed avocado, as well as chorizo hash and delicious buttermilk pancakes.”

Chipwick
“This fish and chip shop has been around for about 40 years. The batter is lovely and crisp – but it’s not just deep-fried cod; they do steamed skate, fresh Cornish scallops and seafood chowder too. They catch locally where possible, and have a map on the wall showing where the fish has come in from.”
