While the parties were cancelled and the tone pared back to pay respect to the Queen this London Fashion Week, editors and fashion followers continued attending shows and supporting the independent talent the city is known for.

And they certainly dressed the part. On Friday, for the first full day of LFW, the sun was shining, and allowed for the final outings of summer shorts, and Burberry plaid kilts. The skirt of the moment, though, is Chopova Lowena’s. The design duo hosted their first fashion show on Friday evening, and their multi-panelled tartan skirts with a thick leather belt are the hit of the week. They’ve been spotted ankle length and paired with loafers, or mini versions worn over trousers.

Elsewhere, body conscious tight fits have proved popular. Supermodel Jourdan Dunn, who was spotted in a Poster Girl knit bodysuit with oversized, olive green bomber made a convincing case for the style on Friday afternoon.

The dare-to-bare trend that sees a focus on sexy silhouettes and cutouts was at the forefront of London-based brands KNWLS and Nensi Dojaka’s collections. The latter, whose Sunday show saw top models Vittoria Cerretti, Paloma Elsesser, and Emily Ratajkowski walk the runway, stated her SS23 collection combined ‘fluidity and structure’, a union set to take over wardrobes.

Another lesson to be learned from the streets of London Fashion Week is that there can never too much colour or prints. In contrast to the industrial feel of the inner city, fashion’s most glamorous walked around in true mix-and-match style. Model, actress and activist Adwoa Aboah showed how to pull it off in an outfit incorporating some of the season’s other hottest trends: python cowboy boots and midi skirts.
