The City of Light treated fashion’s most dedicated to consistent downpours this week.
The sun had been shining on the Seine for the beginning of the ten-day runway extravaganza, but with the first day of October came the rain, and the style set was forced to swap out their geometric print sweater vests, white linen and mini skirts for floor-skimming wool overcoats, nylon Prada puffers and statement silk scarves.
Despite clouds, the best of the shows attracted hordes of people (both invited and not) hoping to get glimpses of the celebrity arrivals, and the chance to be snapped by the roving set of street style photographers. The Balmain festival was a favourite, where thousands turned up to hear Doja Cat sing and see Naomi Campbell take to a vast runway; Dior filled up the Jardin des Tuileries with an eager crowd led by Alexa Chung to see a Sixties-spectacular collection; while Gigi Hadid closed at Coperni in a crowd-pleasing glimmering silver maxi skirt.
The take away style notes as we roll out of fashion month and into winter? It’s all about the massive coats and tiny bags.
