New York Fashion Week’s spring/ summer 2023 edition has now come to a close, and the international fashion set of editors, buyers and influencers are boarding flights to London, where a reduced but still impactful LFW schedule kicks off with shows from Daniel W. Fletcher and Harris Reed tonight.

The mood in New York was one of excitement, as the schedule returned to pre-pandemic levels of packedness. There were mega runway shows from New York stalwarts like Tory Burch, Tommy Hilfiger, Coach and Tom Ford, as well as international brands like Fendi and Marni. As they dashed from show to show in blacked-out SUVs and yellow cabs, the fashion crowd made the most of the summery weather in mini skirts, parachute pants and crop tops.

Fendi’s star-studded show on Friday was a tribute to the brand’s iconic baguette bag, and the street style set has similarly celebrated Carrie Bradshaw’s favourite arm candy.

As rain showers swept the city over the weekend, showgoers turned to motocross leather jackets, metallic boots and baseball caps in which to style out the drizzle. At the Tommy Hilfier show on Sunday night however, when the heavens fully opened on the crowds assembled at a drive-in cinema in Brooklyn, there was only one item that anyone wanted to be wearing, and that was the plastic ponchos provided.
