Best Valentine’s Day Flowers: The stunning Valentine's Day bouquets for delivery

The most romantic time of year is fast approaching, and what better way to swoop your loved one off their feet than with a Valentine's Day bouquet.

Whether you love the holiday or hate it, flowers and chocolates have always been synonymous with romance and you really can’t go wrong with a beautiful bouquet.

Opt for classic red roses or a non-traditional bountiful bouquet filled with their favourite bloom with options that St Valentine himself would approve of and have them delivered on the day of love – so you don’t have to settle for the last batch on offer at your local supermarket.

A stunning floral arrangement is the perfect way to express your feelings on Valentine's Day. If you’ve left it to the last minute, you needn’t settle for the last bunch of battered roses from a petrol station. These beautiful blooms come in various sizes and can be ordered online, which leaves you with more time to pick up a teddy and chocs.

How to make Valentine's Day Flowers last longer:

Trim the stems - Before you place them in water, cut at an angle for better water intake.

Prune your petals - Removing leaves below the water line not only makes your bouquet look better but it helps prevent bacterial growth. When it comes to roses you should also remove the outer most petals which will allow your bloom to open more.

Beware the sun (and fruit!) - Leaving your flowers in direct sunlight can scorch the petals, so opt for a more shaded area if you're looking to make them last. As odd as it might sound placing your flowers near a large bowl of fruit can actually damage them. As fruit ripens, it releases small amounts of ethylene gas which can reduce the time your bouquet will look its best.

Water with care - Room temperature water is best when making the most of your bouquet. Adding flower food - that little packet often tapped to the stems - will also help your flowers longevity, just make sure it's properly mixed before plunking in your stems and be sure to change the water every two or three days.

Embrace the fridge - There's all sorts of quirky tips and tricks for making a bouquet last, from adding a penny to the water to spraying your petals with hairspray. However, the real trick of the trade is to put your bouquet in the fridge overnight. Flowers thrive in cooler temperatures and you're bound to eke out another two or three days using this method.
