Half a million visitors are set to descend on Nottingham's Goose Fair over its ten-day run from Friday, September 27, to Sunday, October 6 but tram travel is going to be tricky due to planned strike action. With no parking, except for disabled blue badge holders, at Forest Recreation Ground, the only way to get there easily is on foot, by taxi or on the buses, which get very busy at peak times.

Buses drop passengers off nearby. If you want to leave it to chance you could try to book an Uber or hail a black cab.

Travelling by car

Visitors travelling by car are advised to use the Park and Ride with continuous shuttle buses serving the fair. Sites will remain open until midnight for the duration of the fair.

Buses

Nottingham City Transport's frequent Brown, Lime, Yellow and Purple Line buses all drop passengers for Goose Fair at the Forest Recreation Ground stop. In the city centre, catch these buses on Parliament Street or Milton Street.

The £8.50 Grouprider ticket is available all day and covers up to five people (minimum one adult, maximum two adults). It offers unlimited day travel for families and couples travelling together at prices cheaper than buying individual day tickets.

You can buy a Grouprider on the NCTX Buses app. Passengers can pay contactless when they board. If paying cash the exact fare is needed.

Buses you can get to the Forest Recreation Ground are:

  • 3C

  • 57

  • 58

  • 59

  • 87

  • 89

  • L12

  • Calverton

Trams

After disruption on Friday caused by strike action over a rejected pay deal, the trams are now running normally to Goose Fair.
