Best ways to clean your AirPods properly as cleaning experts reveal grim discovery
Cleaning gurus have issued a stark warning to anyone who owns Apple AirPods or headphones. The experts at Which? have strongly recommended that those who haven't cleaned their headphones recently should consider doing so.
In a recent Instagram Reel, Which? detailed their findings after conducting tests on various headphones, reports the Mirror. They shared: "In our tests, we took swabs of 11 pairs of in-ear and earbud headphones and sent these off to the lab for analysis."
"The results? We found bacteria living in these devices. In the lab, we found bacteria from people's skin, as you'd expect, but also the types of germs you'd commonly find in soil and dust. And from pets."

Which? went on to reveal that one pair of headphones tested positive for a "so-called gut bacteria". They added: "And you can guess where that comes from."
To prevent any hygiene issues with your earphones, cleaning them is essential. So, what advice did the experts offer?
They advised: "Apple's advice suggests we use a soft, dry, lint-free cloth because an antibacterial spray could damage the device. Or if they're exposed to anything that might cause stains or other damage, wipe them clean with a cloth slightly dampened with fresh water, and dry with a soft, lint-free cloth."
"Apple also say alcohol wipes can be used to clean the exterior too. Again, careful not to get any moisture in the opening or speaker mesh."
"Don't attempt to use them or charge them until they're completely dry. You can clean the microphone and speaker meshes with a dry cotton swab."
