As the air becomes colder and more crisp, a brisk winter walk is a lovely way to spend a Saturday or Sunday. Some fresh air, the opportunity to say hi to a few dogs, and the prospect of a big roast at the pub are the ingredients to a perfect weekend - and if you don't believe me, scroll through Hinge for five minutes.

And on the best winter walk in London, this is easily achievable. According to Wanderlust, the best place to go for a walk during the winter months is Brockwell Park in South London.

Brockwell Park is a large green space that borders Dulwich, Clapham, Brixton and more. It's really easy to get to - Herne Hill railway station sits right at one entrance to the the park - and is a lovely place to get a leg stretch.

The park is also home to the Grade II-listed Brockwell Hall as well as wide open meadows, an Old English flower garden and ancient oak trees, some of which are more than 600 years old. Brockwell Lido is also a popular place to visit - though perhaps not during the winter months.

All of these features make the park a lovely place to walk, as there's plenty to see and do. There are ponds to wander past, and the old clocktower is also worth looking out for.

And once you've had enough exercise, why not make your way over to the The Half Moon in Herne Hill, which was named one of the best pubs in the UK in 2022. Just opposite Herne Hill railway station, the pub is a local icon which has stood on the spot since the 17th century.

Our reporter Ellen Jenne visited the pub and fell in love with its history-heavy appearance but, on a Thursday afternoon, felt like it was missing the buzz of a popular local boozer.

She said: "Inside, the pub boasted a lot of lacquered wood, evidently trying to contain the building’s historic essence in every beam, arch and door frame possible. Maybe this is how they tried to physicalise their Grade II listed status, something not many pubs in the UK can say."

The Fullers pub is dog friendly, making it an excellent place to come after a winter dog walk. The pub's menu ranges from lamb rump with dauphinoise potatoes (£26.50) to a whole plaice served with brown butter, samphire, capers and roasted new potatoes (£25).

The roasts are also popular, with reviewers on Tripadvisor giving the food five stars,. One person wrote: "We went for a Sunday lunch as we live in the vicinity. Service was fast and friendly and our grandchildren were very happy with all they had ordered.

"Our roasts were excellent too. Done perfectly and the beer and the wine made it a very enjoyable family lunch. The restaurant has plenty of seating and the buzz and chatter was invigorating."
