'Better than Starbucks' iced pumpkin chai drink that's perfect for autumn

With each day that passes, the weather in the UK is getting more and more autumnal. There's definitely a slight chill in the air now, and the leaves are beginning to turn those rich shades of red, orange and gold.

And if you want to cultivate the perfect autumnal vibe when it comes to your morning beverage, it really doesn't get much better than adding a touch of pumpkin spice.

However, if you're an iced coffee lover and don't want to give up on your iced drinks just yet, you can still enjoy this delicious spiced flavour in the form of a viral recipe on TikTok that fans have been raving about - saying it's even better than Starbucks.

The simple recipe was uploaded by foodie content creator @foodsbyvane, who specialises in delicious drink creations that don't cost a fortune to make - or buy from your favourite coffee shops.

Her indulgent iced pumpkin chai recipe has been viewed more than 2.4 million times, with fans flocking to the comments to rave about how amazing it looks and tastes.

"This looks heavenly," said one person, while another wrote: "This looks WAY better than Starbucks."

Using chai rather than espresso gives it a much more spiced autumnal taste, but you could also add a shot if you feel you really need a boost in the morning. Iced pumpkin cream chai recipe

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup heavy whipping cream

  • 1/4 cup semi-skimmed milk or non-dairy alternative

  • 1/4 cup pumpkin puree

  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract

  • 1/2 cup of chai, prepared as per packet instructions

  • Drizzle of honey

  • Ice

  • Sprinkle of mixed spice or pumpkin spice seasoning

Method

  1. In a glass or a cup, pour in the cream, milk, pumpkin puree, vanilla extract, honey and spice seasoning before using a whisk to mix it all together until it's light and fluffy - this will be the cream that you put on top of the drink.

  2. Meanwhile, prepare half a cup of chai as per the jar instructions. The recipe uses chai concentrate topped up with milk, but you can also make instant chai for the same flavour if you can't get your hands on this.

  3. Fill a tall glass with ice and pour in the chai, adding more milk if you prefer. Then, pour the pumpkin scream over the top as well, allowing all of the flavours to infuse together.

  4. Sprinkle a little more spice seasoning on top, and it's ready to serve.
