Beverley Christmas Festival 2024: Everything you need to know

Beverley will be brimming with festivities this December

The Beverley Festival of Christmas is set to return on Sunday, December 8.

The annual event, supported by The Beverley Arms, will feature a variety of Victorian-themed market stalls, fairground rides, face painting, food and drink, and street entertainment.

From 10am - 4pm, stalls filled with festive gifts will occupy Saturday Market, Wednesday Market and North Bar Within, accompanied by plenty of family entertainment. The Georgian Quarter of North Bar will also showcase entirely East Yorkshire businesses and traders, along with an ice sculpture.

At 10am, Santa and his reindeer will commence their parade from Wednesday Market, greeting the crowds through Butcher Row and Toll Gavel en route to Saturday Market, where they will remain until approximately 1.30pm. Additional festivities will be held at Flemingate shopping centre, Beverley Minster, St Mary’s Church, The Guildhall, Toll Gavel Church and East Riding Theatre on the day.

The weekly Saturday Market on December 7 will also adopt a festive theme.

How to get there

With road closures in effect and limited town centre parking, visitors are encouraged to use public transport. Beverley Bus Station is a mere 2-minute walk to Saturday Market, while Beverley Train Station is approximately a 5-minute walk to Wednesday Market.

However, parking will be available at Norwood, Grayburn Lane, Grovehill, Flemingate, Butcher Row & Lord Roberts Rd car parks. More information can be found on the East Riding of Yorkshire Council's website.

Limited Blue Badge parking will also be accessible in Grayburn Lane and the council's car park off Champney Rd (opposite the Treasure House). Parking suspensions will be in place in Saturday Market from 18:00 on Saturday, December 7 and 02:00 on Sunday, December 8 in Wednesday Market and North Bar.

School Lane Car Park will also be closed from 02:00am on Sunday, December 8 as it will accommodate coaches travelling to the region for the Festival. The taxi rank will remain operational on Saturday, December 7 in Saturday Market and will then relocate to Cross St on Sunday, December 8 during the Festival of Christmas.

A free park and ride service will operate from Beverley Racecourse on Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 December, with the first bus leaving the racecourse at 9.00am and buses running every 15 - 20 minutes to and from the drop-off point just outside North Bar on Wylies Rd. The last bus will return to the racecourse at 5pm each day.

Visitors can also opt for a scenic 20-minute walk from the park and ride, taking in the picturesque views of Westwood. Complimentary public Wi-Fi is available throughout the town, courtesy of the Smart County Programme.

“The Festival of Christmas is the largest one-day Christmas market in the region and provides residents and businesses the opportunity to buy a range of Christmas gifts at the most wonderful time of the year.

"The market provides a huge economic benefit to the town as well as showcase some amazing businesses, not only in the markets but also those on the high street."

Brochures for the Beverley Festival of Christmas are available at various venues across the town, including the temporary tourist information centre on Cross Street, and will be distributed by Hull & East Yorkshire volunteers on the day.
