Beverly Hills 90210 reboot trailer sees cast return nearly two decades after original show

The first trailer for the Beverly Hills 90210 reboot has arrived.

Original stars Shannen Doherty, Jennie Garth, Jason Priestley, Tori Spelling, Ian Ziering, Gabrielle Carteris and Brian Austin Green will return, although they won’t be reprising their original roles on the show.

Instead, the new series will take a meta route, seeing the actors star as themselves, as they come together to discuss the possibility of doing a Beverly Hills 90210 reboot.

The trailer sees the stars following their daily morning routines, while the show’s famous theme song begins to creep its way into their lives.

The original show ended in May 2000, after ten seasons, having spawned the spin-offs Melrose Place and Models Inc. An initial reboot aired in 2008, starring AnnaLynne McCord and Jessica Stroup, and ran until 2013.

“The prospects of a bunch of fictionalized versions of ourselves trying to get this 90210 reboot off the ground, we’re telling this is in a very comical way,” Priestley told Entertainment Weekly. “I think the opportunity to satirize the situation is something we all found very appealing.”

The show will also pay tribute to former cast member Luke Perry, who passed away in February after suffering a stroke.

BH90210 will premiere on 7 August in the US at 9pm ET on Fox.
