Beyoncé, Leonardo DiCaprio and more celebrities top list of owners of most expensive private islands

If you've been dreaming of escaping to a private island during lockdown, you're certainly not alone - although some people, including quite a few of your favorite celebrities, easily can.

Brad Pitt, Shakira, Leonardo DiCaprio, George Clooney and Beyoncé and Jay Z are all said to have their very own islands at their disposal.

Beyoncé and Jay Z are said to own not one but two mysterious islands in an undisclosed location in Florida. However, they're not socially isolating on one of their private islands, instead, they've been seen around the Hamptons lately.

Shakira teamed up with Pink Floyd’s Roger Waters and Spanish musician Alejandro Sanz to purchase Bonds Cay, a 500-acre island in the Bahamas. The island set the group back by $15 million in 2011 and was purchased with the plan to make it into a boutique luxury getaway for fellow celebrities as well as an artists' retreat with artists-in-residence. While that hasn't happened yet, there's never been a better time for it.

According to The Times, questions about private islands have "increased fourfold" since the pandemic started, as people consider an escape. But they're not just reserved for stars. Some islands are going for less than $100,000.
