This weekend, Beyoncé and Jay-Z marked 12 years of marriage.

The couple wed in a famously under-the-radar ceremony in 2008 at the rapper and entrepreneur's New York City apartment.

Wishing them a happy anniversary on Instagram was Beyoncé's mother Tina Lawson, formerly Knowles, who shared an adorable snap from the day showing a 'just married' Beyoncé throwing one arm up in the air with the other holding on to her new husband as they made their way back down the aisle.

'It seemed like yesterday these guys walked down the aisle,' Tina captioned the post. 'Such beautiful memories of that day, now it’s twelve years later. Three gorgeous babies later and love still prevails.'

In the picture, Beyoncé's wedding dress - which Tina designed and can be seen adjusting the hem of - is on full show.

Though the superstar power couple remain notoriously private, the early years guarding of their relationship was even more heightened, with them refusing to confirm their coupling for years - all the while releasing collaborative tracks like 'Crazy In Love' and 'Bonnie and Clyde 03' - and keeping their wedding day details (where they reportedly had just 40 guests) super secret.

In 2014, eight years after they married the couple shared a sneak glimpse at their special day while performing on their first joint Arena tour, On The Run. Jay-Z and Beyoncé have since sparingly shared clips from the day on social media and in music videos.

During their 12 years of marriage, the couple have welcomed three children together: Eldest daughter Blue Ivy (who is looking more and more like Beyoncé by the day) and two-year-old twins Sir and Rumi.

Congratulations to the Carters!
