Beyoncé shared petitions seeking justice for George Floyd—here's how you can help

Over the weekend, Beyoncé joined the chorus of famous voices lending their platforms to seek justice for George Floyd in the aftermath of his murder on Monday, May 25th. In an Instagram video, she shared not only her thoughts about Floyd’s death, but she also offered some easy ways for her followers to help bring the appropriate charges to all officers involved in his murder.

Beyoncé shared the video on Saturday, May 30th, as protests demanding justice for Floyd and other black victims of police brutality in cities across the country continued to grow. Calling for “justice for George Floyd,” she added, “We all witnessed his murder in broad daylight. We’re broken and we’re disgusted. We cannot normalize this pain.”

“I’m not only speaking to people of color,” Beyoncé said. “If you’re white, Black, brown, or anything in between, I’m sure you feel hopeless by the racism going on in America right now.”

She continued, calling for change: “No more senseless killings of human beings. No more seeing people of color as less than human. We can no longer look away. George is all of our family and humanity. He is our family because he is a fellow American.”

“There have been too many times that we’ve seen these violent killings and no consequences,” she added. “Yes, someone’s been charged, but justice is far from being achieved,” she said, referring to the arrest of Derek Chauvin, the Minneapolis police officer who was filmed kneeling on Floyd’s neck for several minutes. Chauvin was charged with third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter.

But justice for Floyd and his loved ones is still far from served, which is why Bey asked her fans to visit her official website, where she provides several links to several petitions you can sign to show your support. All of the petitions she calls out were started by organizations working to give Floyd and other victims of senseless police violence the justice they deserve.

Visit the petitions on Change.org, Color of Change, We Can’t Breathe, and the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) to read more about their collective efforts and to add your name to each petition.
