There are plans to demolish the site of a former Gloucester vintage shop to build a block of flats.

A planning application to develop the former Fad and Fated vintage goods shop at 35 Worcester Street has been submitted to Gloucester City Council. The building, which is in poor condition and not structurally sound, has a floor space of around 6243 sq ft.

The building which is split in three elements, has a single-storey pitched roof next to Hare Lane South car park, a single-storey low duel-pitched building and the front part of the building is a former methodist church which has not been used for such purposes for many years.

Those working on the scheme say the appearance of the new buildings would be in line with what has already been approved at the site.

The proposals do not include any parking however consultants say it is in a highly accessible area with readily available public transport options.

The bus and railway station is less than a ten minute walk away and there is also a car park to the rear if vehicular parking is needed.

Consultants say the proposal is of an acceptable size, scale and design to ensure it respects the character and appearance of the surrounding area.

People have until December 18 to comment on the proposals. City planners are expected to consider the scheme by February 26, 2025.
