Biden Camp Has Pitch-Perfect Response To Trump's Bizarre Walk-On Music At RNC
Former president Donald Trump’s walk-on music during the third night of the Republican National Convention has raised some eyebrows among Joe Biden’s team.
After Trump entered the Milwaukee event to a version of the James Brown classic “It’s a Man’s Man’s Man’s World” on Wednesday, his successor’s reelection campaign took to social media with an interesting observation about the song choice.
Reminding voters about the Republican’s record on reproductive rights, a Biden campaign account wrote on social media, “Trump, who unleashed abortion bans that force teenage girls to give birth against their will, walks out at the RNC to ‘It’s A Man’s World.’”
The former president has long boasted about helping to overturn the Supreme Court’s 1973 Roe v. Wade ruling, which for decades guaranteed abortion rights nationwide, by stacking the court with conservative justices during his time in office.
Listeners have sometimes debated whether Brown’s soul anthem is sexist.
Though the lyrics of the 1966 tune attribute the bulk of human achievement to men, Brown also sings: “This is a man’s world. But it wouldn’t be nothing, nothing without a woman or a girl.”
Still, it’s hard not to read into the song choice in the context of the GOP.
Trump is known for being particular about the music that surrounds him.
Earlier this year, Axios reported that the Republican presidential nominee hand-selects the soundtrack for his Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida.
The outlet wrote in April that “Trump controls the surround-sound stereo system” on Mar-a-Lago’s patio with a “big iPad and its Spotify list.”
“Regulars jokingly call it the ‘Deejay T’ performance,” Axios added.
Wednesday’s walk-on tune is said to be one of Trump’s favorite songs.
In footage circulating online, he talks about his love for “It’s a Man’s Man’s Man’s World” while playing a version of the song on his tablet as he rides around in a golf cart.
