Big £200,000 cannabis farm found in Tamworth town centre property with children's murals
A large cannabis farm believed to be worth around £200,000 has been found in a Staffordshire town centre. The drugs growing operation was found at a property in Lichfield Street, Tamworth on Saturday (November 16) night.
Officers from Staffordshire Police raided the premises and found around 200 plants, following a tip-off from the local community. Photos showed cannabis plants packed in a room with children’s murals on the walls, including a ‘Little Princess’ image.
Lighting, other growing paraphernalia and a tangle of wires was pictured in the room. A second room shows dozens more plants in an advanced stage of growth. Bags of picked cannabis leaves were also put in a van .

A notice was placed on a door at the premises, which read: “Staffordshire Police have removed all items from this location and all equipment has been put beyond use.
“The location has been secured and positive action will be taken against anyone entering, damaging or removing items from this location. This address will be subject to regular checks by officers in uniform and non-uniform. Crime prevention and detection techniques such as CCTV (overt and covert) along with forensic marking will be used.”
In a statement, Tamworth Police said: “Officers located a cannabis grow within a property last night on Lichfield Street in Tamworth after the police were alerted to suspicious activity outside the premises.
“Around 200 plants were seized from the property and enquiries are ongoing. If anyone has any information, or suspect there is a cannabis grow near you, please report via 101 or report on Crimestoppers [0800 555 111] anonymously.”
