Mayim Bialik has apologised yet again for her recent comments about Hollywood's problem with sexual misconduct and the allegations made against Harvey Weinstein.

Last week, the Big Bang Theory actress wrote an essay for The New York Times titled Being a Feminist in Harvey Weinstein's World, which included the suggestion that "non-traditional" Hollywood women are "overlooked" by sexual harassers.

This caused a backlash on social media as Bialik was accused of implying that only conventionally attractive women get sexually harassed.

Bialik addressed the criticism on Twitter and then during a Facebook live talk with The New York Times' Opinion section, saying: "I am deeply, deeply hurt if [anyone] who has been assaulted thinks that in any way I was victim-blaming."

Now, the actress has spoken out again via social media to "say clearly and explicitly that I am very sorry" and that she doesn't believe assault is ever the victim's fault.

"What you wear and how you behave does not provide any protection from assault, nor does the way you dress or act in any way make you responsible for being assaulted," she wrote. "You are never responsible for being assaulted.

"I applaud the bravery of the women who have come forward. I support these women as we seek out and demand accountability from the only ones responsible for assault and rape: the people who perpetrate these heinous crimes. I am motivated and driven to work hard to empower women.

"I am truly sorry for causing so much pain, and I hope you can all forgive me."

Weinstein is currently under police investigation in both the US and the UK, and has been accused of sexual misconduct by Lysette Anthony, Gwyneth Paltrow, Angelina Jolie, Rose McGowan, Cara Delevingne, Ashley Judd and other women over the last two weeks. He has "unequivocally denied" any allegations of non-consensual sex.
