The Big Bang Theory's Jim Parsons has weighed in on the show's recent series finale.

After 12 seasons (and 279 episodes), the CBS sitcom came to a close last month and offered fans a "perfect" ending for its cast of beloved characters. Amy and Sheldon won the Nobel Prize, and that darn elevator was finally fixed!

Reflecting on the double bill conclusion, Parsons seems pretty content with the way things panned out.

Speaking to ET Online, the Sheldon star noted: "It ended in the way that I hoped it would, in that it felt right. There were probably a million different ways it could feel right.

"I would talk with some of the writers and I know as they were writing it they were nervous," he added. "I said, 'It's the finale, you can't get it completely right. Someone's gonna hate it.'

"But I don't think that was actually the case with this, which was really sweet. I think it wrapped up in the right way".

Parsons – who won four Primetime Emmy Awards for his performance in the series – also admitted that Big Bang's end will probably dawn on him later this year.

"It hasn't really hit me yet, completely, that it's over," he revealed. "Mostly because the way our schedule worked for 12 years, this was an actual break that we had.

"I'm looking forward to September where I'd normally be working and we'd start airing. That's when I think certain things will start hitting me".

The Big Bang Theory's final season aired on CBS and CBS All Access in the US. E4 airs the show in the UK.
