The Big Bang Theory's UK fans are now getting double-the-Sheldon each week, thanks to a prequel finally making its way across the Atlantic.

Young Sheldon made its debut on UK screens as part of an hour-long programming block on E4 on Thursday (February 22), following an all-new episode of The Big Bang Theory.

The prequel series centres around the lovable genius' childhood in a rural Texas community where his wisecracks and sheer brilliance aren't exactly appreciated by the local population.

Jim Parsons lends his voice to Young Sheldon as the sitcom's narrator, with Big Little Lies' Iain Armitage playing the King of Bazinga as a (very) precocious 9-year-old.

Thursday's premiere episode centred around Sheldon facing the daunting challenge of entering high school, where he'd be sharing classrooms with much older, and much more jaded teenagers.
