The Big Bang Theory is returning for a twelfth and final season later this year, and you might be wondering how they are going to wrap everything up. Especially after last season when they had the wedding of Sheldon and Amy officiated by none other than Mark Hamill.

The answer is... no one knows yet.

Co-creator Bill Prady told Us Weekly that they haven't planned the final episode at all.

"We're approaching the final season the same way we've approached the 11 seasons before: with no planning whatsoever," he said.

"From day one, we have never planned an arch for a season. We don't plan ahead, we just kind of just tell the next story.''

While that might sound a bit worrying, it's good to know that they have been following the same formula they've been doing the entire time.

We do know some of what will happen during the upcoming season 12, as Penny's father will be making a return, and it's been reported that Professor Proton will be returning too, even though he's supposed to be dead.

Multiple stars have spoken out about the show's ending, including Mayim Bialik, who said she was understandably upset, saying: "I love my job. I love my castmates, and I feel such appreciation for our incredible crew, our brave writers, our entire staff, and our amazing fans. So many people are a part of our Big Bang family."

The Big Bang Theory 's final season starts on Monday, September 24 on CBS in the US. E4 airs the show in the UK.
