The Big Bang Theory set its sights again on Donald Trump during last night's episode in the US.

Co-creator Chuck Lorre is no stranger to using the hugely popular comedy's vanity cards to make a political point, attacking Trump earlier in the season ahead of the presidential election.

And now ahead of his inauguration, the vanity card at the end of Thursday night's episode 'The Romance Recalibration' contained a hidden warning about Trump – even though it didn't mention him by name at all and instead used the lyrics from George Harrison's 'Beware of Darkness'.

"Watch out now, take care / Beware of greedy leaders / They'll take you where you should not go / While Weeping Atlas Cedars / They just want to grow, grow and grow / Beware of darkness," it read.

The significance of using this particular song is that last year, the estate for the late Beatles singer took aim at Trump for using 'Here Comes The Sun' during his presidential campaign, adding that 'Beware of Darkness' would be a better choice.

Lorre's other current sitcom Mom also ran the same vanity card, which ended with a Monty Python and the Holy Grail quote: "Run away! Run away!"

As well as using Trump's "make America great again" campaign slogan to deliver a stark warning ahead of the election, Lorre delivered a simple message after Trump had won: "Uh-oh."

Lorre will hopefully have more episodes to continue his political messages as it was revealed that three cast members – Jim Parsons, Kaley Cuoco and Johnny Galecki – are in discussions to renew their contracts for season 11.

"We are in negotiations, but it is definitely business as usual. We are guardedly optimistic that we will make a deal," explained CBS entertainment president Glenn Geller.
