The Big Bang Theory may have concluded over a year ago, but people everywhere are still tuning in to their favourite sitcom wherever they can – be it on streaming platforms or through televised repeats.
Of course, when you rewatch something over and over, you notice more things about it than you would have on that initial viewing. And that fact was proven recently when a bunch of fans spotted a blunder in one of the comedy show's beloved holiday episodes.
In the special, entitled 'The Bath Item Gift Hypothesis', Jim Parsons' Sheldon Cooper stresses over what to get pal Penny (Kaley Cuoco) for Christmas – as her generosity usually eclipses everybody's efforts. Eventually, he, Raj (Kunal Nayyar) and Howard (Simon Helberg) decide to get her a huge array of toiletries.
Fortunately, the boys' extravagant present pleases Penny, who, in turn, gives Sheldon a signed napkin used by one of his idols, Star Trek legend Leonard Nimoy. The pair then hug, cementing it as one of the few times Sheldon actually expressed any emotion throughout the show's run.
Turns out though, there's a continuity error that distracts from the moment's sweetness.
"When Sheldon emerges with all of the bath item gift baskets for Penny, he drops them on the floor and chair," one online forum user explained recently (via the Express).
"Between shots one of the baskets on the chair changes from being an upright green-ribboned basket, to a toppled-over white-ribboned basket."
Suffice to say, we'll never watch the scene the same way again.
