Yahoo News Big Bang Theory's Kaley Cuoco lands next lead TV role
The Big Bang Theory's Kaley Cuoco has landed her next lead role in upcoming HBO comedy series Kansas City Star.
According to Deadline, the actor is set to star in and executive produce the series, which comes from Hacks creators Lucia Aniello, Paul W Downs and Jen Statsky.
Cuoco will reportedly play "a semi-famous actress who returns to her hometown to work with a regional theatre troupe", though further plot details remain scarce.

Meanwhile, Cuoco will soon return to screens in season two of Based on a True Story, which releases on Peacock in the US on November 21.
The first series, which released last June, followed the Cuoco's true-crime obsessed Ava and her husband Nathan (Chris Messina) as they capitalised on the current true-crime phenomenon by making a podcast with a real-life serial killer in Los Angeles.
The dark comedy's second instalment will see the pair navigate parenthood while a copycat killer is on the loose.

The official synopsis reads: "Focused on taking care of her family, Ava is determined to resist her true crime obsession and return to work as a real estate agent while Nathan trains private tennis clients.
"But a series of new murders pulls her back in – is Matt behind the slayings? Is Tory now entangled in a relationship with Matt, in danger?"
Tom Bateman reprises his role as reformed Westside Ripper Matt, while Liana Liberato returns as Ava's sister Tory.
The second season will also star Brooklyn Nine-Nine's Melissa Fumero as Drew, a new mum who befriends Ava and may have a secret of her own.
Based on a True Story season 2 premiers on November 21 on Peacock in the US. In the UK, the show airs on Sky and NOW.
