The Big Breakfast is set to make a comeback this summer, hosted by AJ Odudu and Mo Gilligan.

It was a huge hit in the 90s, but the Channel 4 breakfast entertainment show was off air for nearly 20 years before it made a return as part of the broadcaster's Black to Front campaign in 2021.

Odudu and Gilligan fronted the one-off revival in September which was so popular with viewers that it has now been renewed for Saturdays over the summer.

The Big Breakfast will air on Saturday mornings over four weeks in August in a two-and-a-half-hour show that welcomes celebrity guests for lively discussion of the day's hot topics.

Strictly Come Dancing star Odudu said: "There really is nothing like The Big Breakfast on our screens. I loved hosting it last year and I am looking forward to being back at the house to kick off summer weekends on this now award-winning show."

The Masked Singer judge Gilligan added: "I love being part of this incredible history making show. The whole team are so spectacular, and I have so much fun working with AJ - she’s one of the best in the business. And now a live summer series? LET’S GO!"

Odudu and Gilligan's Big Breakfast revival was so popular that it won Royal Television Society Awards both for them as presenters and in the entertainment show category.

Channel 4 senior commissioning editor Vivienne Molokwu said: "I genuinely believe that the Black To Front Project unearthed one  of the best presenting double acts that telly has seen in some time in bringing Mo and AJ together for The Big Breakfast so it’s absolutely no surprise that we’re reuniting them for more early morning madness and making them a regular staple of our summer schedule."

Originally, The Big Breakfast ran from 1992 to 2002, featuring outrageous moments at early hours of the day, including Paula Yates and Michael Hutchence enjoying an intimate chat, Victoria Beckham revealing David liked to borrow her knickers, and Jenny McCarthy sparking complaints after getting a blindfolded Vinnie Jones to grope her bottom.

Its presenters included Denise Van Outen, Chris Evans, Gaby Roslin and Johnny Vaughan.
