Big Brother has unveiled the jaw-dropping truth behind Akeem's Power of Knowledge - and fans are calling it a fundamental betrayal of the show's premise.

Over the weekend, Big Brother gave all housemates the chance to bid for another secret power - much like it did last week with Hussain's disastrous Absolute Power nomination.

As part of the Moneyball task, housemates had the chance to bid on the secret piece of the jigsaw puzzle in the garden. A bidding war ensued between Akeem, Cian and Brooke, with Akeem's bid of 900 ultimately winning.

Big Brother later previewed the twist by revealing that he'd won the Power of Knowledge, starting with the news that this week would be positive nominations (where the housemate with the most nominations was safe).

Akeem was called to the Diary Room in Monday's show, where Big Brother gave him news that "no other housemate has access to": he'd been the only housemate to receive zero positive nominations and would thus face eviction.

"Not the best result, but I've got to cope with it," he admitted.

But nominations weren't the big secret! Big Brother also told Akeem that he'd be given one piece of information from the outside world in tomorrow's show - he'd get to think up a Yes or No question to ask directly to the viewers. He ultimately decided to ask whether or not he deserved to be in the final.

We'll see how it all turns out on Tuesday, but viewers are already accusing producers of breaking a fundamental Big Brother rule by allowing contact with the outside world:

This is fresh off controversies over meddling in the eviction voting procedure last week, and controversial double eviction twist last Friday where Cameron got the sole power to evict Isabella. Is this latest twist the last straw?

Big Brother continues on Tuesday (October 23) at the later time of 10.15pm on Channel 5.
