Big Brother contestant Tomasz Wania has left the house on medical reasons.

The 31-year-old had to leave the Elstree compound to head to London for a medical appointment.

A Big Brother spokesperson said to Digital Spy: "Tomasz left the Big Brother house briefly for a confidential medical appointment and returned shortly afterwards.

"At the time of leaving the house he was chaperoned by a member of production and had minimal contact with the outside world."

Tomasz has quickly become a fan favourite since joining the show – and one of the favourites to win.

Big Brother recently introduced a Power Of Knowledge, with Akeem being the housemate bestowed with the new honour.

But when the full extent of what was to come was revealed, fans said it broke a fundamental betrayal of the show's premise.

Over the weekend, Big Brother gave all housemates the chance to bid for another secret power - much like it did last week with Hussain's disastrous Absolute Power nomination.

As part of the Moneyball task, housemates had the chance to bid on the secret piece of the jigsaw puzzle in the garden. A bidding war ensued between Akeem, Cian and Brooke, with Akeem's bid of 900 ultimately winning.

Big Brother later previewed the twist by revealing that he'd won the Power of Knowledge, starting with the news that this week would be positive nominations (where the housemate with the most nominations was safe).

Akeem was called to the Diary Room in Monday's show, where Big Brother gave him news that "no other housemate has access to": he'd been the only housemate to receive zero positive nominations and would thus face eviction.

"Not the best result, but I've got to cope with it," he admitted.

But fans were annoyed to find that Akeem was also told he'd be allowed to ask a yes or no question to the viewers – breaking the rule about having no contact with the outside world.

Big Brother continues on Tuesday (October 23) at the later time of 10.15pm on Channel 5.
