This Big White Button Mutes Sites Like Facebook So You Can Get On With Your Work

A new Bluetooth-connected white button enables users to mute all of their distracting apps so that they can get on with their work.

The ‘Saent’ - pronounced ‘saint’ - is designed to block out distractions such as Facebook, Twitter and email, literally at the touch of a button.

When users hit the button it deactivates their apps for a preset period of time - either 30, 60 or 90 minutes, with breaks in between.

Currently seeking donations on crowd-funding site Indiegogo, the device enables users to choose which apps they want to mute.

Really keen workers can even boost their productivity by accruing points when they successfully complete tasks, challenging colleagues to see who is the most productive.

As well as this thoroughly depressing work-based banter, users will also get a regular report on the success - or failure - of previous focus sessions.

Data is tracked and collated in a similar way to fitness trackers like the Fitbit and Jawbone Up.

A built-in LED light on the Saent means that the button can also act as a visual Do Not Disturb sign on the worker’s desk and it also counts down the time left for each ‘focus session’.

While there are already apps and pieces of software that enable users to mute apps and websites while they work, the makers of Saent believe that people prefer a tangible product.

The device will be compatible with Mac and PC, with mobile apps to follow at a later date.

Expected to arrive in November 2015, Saent is available for pre-order now - with a price tag of $75 (£48) for a pack of two.
