Biker jailed after filming himself pulling wheelies at 189mph

A biker has been jailed for 21 months after filming himself pulling wheelies at 189mph.

Adam Campion, 26, was sentenced at Nottingham Crown Court on Wednesday after pleading guilty to five counts of dangerous driving.

Campion, of Hucknall, Nottinghamshire, admitted pulling wheelies and weaving in and out of traffic on public roads as well as assisting an offender in the retention of stolen goods.

When officers raided Campion’s home in September 2016 they found a laptop containing hundreds of videos and images of motorbikes being ridden dangerously.

One of the videos showed him driving one-handed at 189mph while recording his speed with his mobile phone.

Others showed him driving through red lights, driving on the wrong side of the road and speeding in and out of traffic.

Inspector Glenn Longden, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “The illegal and dangerous use of motorcycles is a massive issue to our communities and although this investigation was immensely complex and time consuming, the result in court has been satisfying.

“I hope this prison sentence will make those who think it is acceptable to put themselves and others in danger by driving dangerously think twice. They are not above the law and no matter how long it takes; we will bring them to justice.”

Enquiries are on-going to identify other offenders seen in the videos. Anyone with any information is asked to call police on 101.
