Biker in Royal Stoke with 'serious injuries' as crash shuts road
A biker is in Stoke-on-Trent's main hospital with 'serious injuries' this afternoon after crashing into a wall. The collision happened on Back Lane, in Brown Edge, this morning.
A police cordon blocking off Back Lane remains in place this afternoon after at least three police cars and an ambulance descended on the road. An air ambulance also landed on Brown Edge Playing Fields, on nearby High Lane, as part of the emergency response.
The first 999 call was made at 10.56am today.
A Staffordshire Police spokesman said: "We are currently dealing with a single-vehicle collision involving a motorbike on Back Lane. Officers are currently at the scene. A cordon has been put in place. The rider of the motorbike, a man, has been taken to hospital by paramedics from West Midlands Ambulance Service."
West Midlands Ambulance Service also dispatched one land ambulance to the scene as well as the air ambulance.
An ambulance service spokesman said: "We were called to reports of a motorcyclist who had crashed into a wall on Back Lane. One ambulance and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford attended the scene. On arrival we discovered one patient, a man. He was treated for serious injuries before being taken to the Royal Stoke University Hospital by land ambulance."
Police are appealing for witnesses following the collision. They should call the police on 101.
