Bill & Ted Face the Music has certainly been a long time coming, and it seems the pair are graduating from history projects to saving the universe.

The upcoming third Bill & Ted movie's director has teased what we can expect from the film, as this time around the duo are going to have to write a song to save everyone... in a very limited amount of time. Most excellent.

"We've gone from a homework assignment to saving all space and time," Dean Parisot told Empire. "We bypassed all those possible traumas in the middle.

"They have an hour and 18 minutes. So they're in trouble. And let's say that they have to travel all over the place to try and figure it out."

Speaking previously about Bill and Ted's limited time to save everything, writer Chris Matheson explained: "They were told when they were teenagers that they were going to save reality, and they've been working on it the whole time.

"Now an emissary from the future comes and says, 'You've got to do it right now. We've got literally 80 minutes or all of reality will come to an end'."

Alongside a returning Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter, the movie will also see the return of William Sadler as the Grim Reaper, while Samara Weaving joins as Bill's daughter Thea and Brigette Lundy-Paine as Ted's daughter Billie.

Bill & Ted Face the Music will be out in August 2020.
