AN AUDI driver who tried lying to police and a reckless e-scooter rider were among five vehicles seized by police in Bournemouth yesterday.

The e-scooter owner ran through a red light on Wednesday January 26 as officers from Dorset Police No Excuse team looked on, resulting in the rider being reported to the court and the scooter being seized.

An officer said: “This chap was bimbling along in the cycle lane approaching a red traffic light

“The cars in front stopped as they should at the red light, but, without pause or a glance, the scooter just went straight through. Thankfully no one was crossing.”

The driver of a silver Audi estate attempted to lie to police before confessing to be disqualified and driving without insurance. He was also instructed to report to the courts.

Three other cars were found to be on the roads without insurance, two of which had had their policies cancelled. All three drivers were issued fixed penalties and their cars taken from them by police.
