Bindi Irwin Pays Tribute To Dad Steve Irwin On 10th Anniversary Of His Death

Yesterday marked the 10th anniversary of wildlife expert Steve Irwin’s death, and his daughter Bindi took to social media late last night to pay tribute to her beloved father.

The 18 year old shared a photo of herself with the TV star and described Steve as her “hero”.

She wrote: “You’ll be my hero for my entire existence. I love you more than words can describe.”

Bindi also shared a poignant quote from the Dalai Lama, which read: “Happiness is not something ready made. It comes from your own actions.”

Just days ago it was revealed that Steve’s heartbroken parents, Lyn and Bob, discovered an unopened letter from the star in the jacket of a book.

Addressing both of his parents, the note is said to have read: “Probably one of the most unfortunate things in a ‘bloke’s life’ is that it takes over 30 years to realise how essential you have been to build my character, my ethics and, most importantly, my HAPPINESS.

"At 32, I am finally starting to figure it out. In good times and in bad, you were there. Your strength and endurance to raise me will not go unrewarded. My love for you is my strength!

"For the rest of my life I will reflect on the unbelievably GREAT times we’ve shared and will continue to share. You’re my best friends!”

The note is set to be published in a forthcoming memoir entitled: 'The Last Crocodile Hunter: A Father and Sun Legacy’, which is due for release later this year.

Earlier this year, Bindi paid tribute to Steve on her 18th birthday after winning 'Dancing With The Stars’ with a beautifully choreographed dance to Leona Lewis’ 'Footprints In The Sand’ in tribute to her father.

Steve shot to fame through his show 'The Crocodile Hunter’ but tragically passed away in 2006 after he was stung in the chest by a stingray whilst filming an ocean documentary.
