The Birmingham 'Christmas House' that lights up the neighbourhood and children beg to visit
A Birmingham home called the 'Christmas House' puts on an enormous lights display that children beg to visit every year. Andy Salter is no Grinch, as he decorates his Kings Norton home with LED lights that get bigger and better every Christmas.
Based on Birdie Close, you can't miss the sparkling blues, greens and reds lighting up the neighbourhood like a disco ball. Christmas may be over a month away but Andy prefers to set up early, having installed the lights on November 11.
Going into it's tenth anniversary, the house is so famous locals call it the Christmas House, with children begging their parents to visit it as if it's a Christmas tradition. Yet there is a poignant reason Andy sets up this stunning display, going back to his childhood.

The digital marketing seller does it in memory of his late father who started the tradition. Andy, 47, said: "This is our tenth year and every year I add more and it gets bigger and better.
"Couple of reasons I do it, my late father passed away 5-6 years ago and he would decorate the house for Christmas. We would also travel around to see other decorated homes.
"The amount of kids that pull up outside my house reminds me of my childhood. This year, I bought glow sticks off Temu to give to kids and I take selfies with them."
As his front garden isn't too big Andy solely does lights which consist of a Christmas train, Santa and his reindeer, Santa on a space shuttle, star lights and a few giant Merry Christmases. He insists it doesn't burn his pocket as LED lights cost 1.5p per set so bills are not sky high.
He continued: "I start in mid November and it takes 3-4 days to set up with my daughter's boyfriend. It took us six Saturday mornings as I work full time and we have eight more sets to put up.
"Everyone loves it and one child went past and said 'I want to see the Christmas house'. I went to a flower shop on Valentines Day and the seller recognised my address.
"We will do more than last year and I will start buying next year's lights in January."
