Birmingham City’s 27-man squad for Austria tour revealed as Bacuna and Longelo left out

Juninho Bacuna has been left out from the 27-man Birmingham City squad that jetted to Austria on Thursday afternoon. Blues touched down at their base this evening and Bacuna was nowhere to be seen.

Curacao international Bacuna is holding talks with Sivasspor after Blues accepted a bid from the Turkish side over the weekend. Blues are expecting Bacuna to depart after two-and-a-half years at the club.

Left-back Manny Longelo has also been omitted from Blues' travelling party amid rumours that the club are chasing Peterborough United's Harrison Burrows. Longelo hasn't played for Blues since January and has been linked with a move to Barnsley.

The other notable absentee is midfielder Alfie Chang who continues to work with the club's medical staff back in Henley-in-Arden following a serious knee injury. All the other senior players have made the trip including Blues’ quartet of new signings Ryan Allsop, Bailey Peacock-Farrell, Alfie May and Emil Hansson.

Manager Chris Davies has taken the opportunity to include a selection of youngsters who have impressed him in the first 10 days of pre-season training. Leading light Romelle Donovan is one of two 17-year-olds who have made the trip, the other being striker Briar Bateman.

There is also a place for Menzi Mazwi, the promising Wales under-19 international who recently signed his first professional contract with Blues despite links to a number of Premier League sides.

Northern Ireland youngster Tommy Fogarty is another who will be hoping to impress Davies given the club’s current centre-back shortage. Fogarty impressed in a loan with National League side Ebbsfleet in the second half of last season and is Blues’ third most experienced central defensive option after Dion Sanderson and Krystian Bielik.
