Birmingham City target transfer which Steven Gerrard had tried to complete
Birmingham City are set to bring a second Rangers player to the club this summer transfer window, with reports in Scotland claiming that winger Scott Wright will join Blues before Friday night's deadline.
Wright, 27, is Aberdeen born and reared, having come through the Dons academy and breaking into the Pittodrie first team, for who he made 80 appearances. He then made the switch to Rangers in 2020, where he played under Steven Gerrard and with who he has won the SPL title, the Scottish Cup, the Scottish League Cup and finished runner up in the Europa League.
Indeed it was reported that Gerrard, now manager of Saudi Pro League Al-Ettifaq, looked into the possibility of reuniting with Wright, who has been a regular in the Gers side for three seasons, last summer, but that switch never materialised.

During his time in charge at Ibrox, Gerrard praised Wright abilities and performances. On the opening day of the 2021-22 season, on which Rangers beat Livingston 3-0 and Wright struck as a substitute, Gerrard said: "Scott could have started today. I think his performances in pre-season have been outstanding.
"We're working on him a lot in the final third in trying to get numbers into his game. I thought he came on today and he was a right bright spark. Full of energy, he sees a pass, he's always looking forward and looking to penetrate. He's quick and he got his rewards from another strong performance."
Wright now appears set to boost Chris Davies' options in the wide areas at St Andrew's and, while Ben Davies has joined Blues from Rangers on a season-long loan deal, it's reported that Wright will be joining Blues on a permanent basis. He'll provide more competition for the likes of Ayumu Yokoyama, Keshi Anderson, Emil Hansson and Koji Miyoshi, with Siriki Dembele set for the exit door and George Hall not appearing to be in Davies' immediate plans.
Sky Sports report that Wright has travelled to the Second City to complete a medical ahead of Friday night's deadline. Wright made 120 appearances for the Glasgow club and scored 12 times.
