Birmingham City's closest League One promotion rivals suffer broken leg blow
Wrexham have suffered a big blow in their hopes of winning their promotion race with Birmingham City.
While Blues have had their own injury issues – with Jay Stansfield and Scott Wright added to the list of players unavailable for Saturday’s trip to Lincoln City – the Welsh outfit have lost one of their key players for an extended period.
Manager Phil Parkinson confirmed striker Jack Marriott is out for several months having suffered a broken leg. "It was such a low day for us all at the training ground on Thursday," Parkinson told BBC Sport Wales.

"Jack struck the ball at goal with no-one near him but his foot went from underneath him and he's broken his fibula.”
Blues fans will be aware of Marriott’s potency in front of goal, with the former Derby man giving the visitors an early lead in their clash with Blues at St Andrew’s last month. Chris Davies’ men managed to recover from that poacher’s finish but the 30-year-old’s campaign has now been interrupted after five goals in 12 games.
Wrexham didn’t seem too affected yesterday, as Paul Mullin came into the starting line-up and bagged the only goal of their 1-0 win at Rotherham in the first minute. The talismanic Mullin was making his first League One start in a month.
As for Blues Davies believes Stansfield and Wright’s injuries are only short-term, while Krystian Bielik and Lee Buchanan remain sidelined and Emil Hansson was taken off during the 3-1 win at Sincil Bank.
