Man Stabbed In Birmingham Road Rage Fight

A man has been stabbed during a road rage incident in Birmingham, prompting a police appeal for information.

Police were called to reports of a fight involving five people in the Balsall Heath area of the city just before 5.15pm on Friday.

A 19-year-old was airlifted to hospital with a stab wound, where he is said to be in a serious but stable condition. Two other men suffered minor injuries.

Two men, aged 23 and 29, were arrested nearby on suspicion of wounding and are in police custody.

Officers believe the three injured men were travelling in a grey/green Volvo Estate while the other two were in a blue Ford Fiesta hatchback.

Police say the dispute started when the Volvo pulled out in front of the Fiesta. They say the fight then broke out as the cars pulled up next to each other at the junction of Moseley Road and Highgate Road.

Several members of the public tried to stop the fracas as it unfolded.

Detective Constable Elaine Dodd said: "This happened in broad daylight and at a busy time of day in Balsall Heath.

"We know a number of people tried to stop the fighting and keep the peace and we would ask anyone who has not yet spoken to us to get in touch.

"There was also a number 50 bus just behind the cars involved and passengers on board may have seen what happened."

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact DC Elaine Dodd on 101 or call the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
