"I was very surprised to read about all of the things those people were doing," she explains in the latest episode of Sky News' Ukraine War Diaries podcast.

"How can you be at a cafe or the restaurant? It's war... and now you're just like, oh, okay - that's how they did that! So, yep, life goes on. Moreover, life is now. This is what I try to remind myself of every day."

Against the backdrop of Russian claims of a temporary ceasefire, Kyiv, the Ukrainian capital, remains a city where daily life is dictated by threats of airstrikes, and enforced blackouts in a bid to ration energy.

Months of missile attacks on the country's energy infrastructure has reduced national energy supplies by more than 40% according to Ukrainian authorities.

In recent weeks and months Kyiv has found itself consistently and increasingly targeted. But city businesses - and in this case those providing entertainment - continue to find ways to offer citizens respite.

According to Ms Koshel, some theatres have relocated underground, utilising bomb-proof infrastructure, This allows them to continue offering shows.

"I think you will be surprised to know that things are still happening," says Ms Koshel, who this week booked a comedy night to celebrate her husband - and fellow diarist Seva's - birthday.

"You can go out to a movie theatre, you can go out to see a musical or a theatre play and people are trying to figure out how to find venues that are underground..."
